New Brighton Cohousing Community
Frequently Asked Questions
The Answers You’re Looking For
Do you accommodate special dietary needs during community meals?
We do! We have years of experience cooking for one another, including vegan, gluten free, and/or vegetarian meal options. We keep a list of people's allergies, sensitivities, and preferences and we adapt recipes and make special portions so our meals can include everyone.
How does ownership of the townhomes vs. the common spaces work?
It's a lot like an HOA. Members own a portion of the common spaces and the entirety of their own units. The complex is governed by a Tenancy in Common agreement (TIC), is financially stable, and well-managed by the residents. With our TIC, those with mortgages have Fractional TIC loans that provide residential rates and assumable mortgaging.
Is there an approval process for new members?
While there is no formal approval process, we encourage prospective new members to get to know us and how we live before making a decision to join us. Come for a meal, a meeting, and/or a work party to see how it all plays out and if it feels like a good fit!
